But to get back to the question, The MXR is pretty cool and no it's not a piece of trash. Does what a comp is suposed to do. A close ratio 5 speed with 5 gear direct drive (no overdrive). The racing trans has steel syncro-rings for longevity in competition, brass rings will die in speed shifting.
